Drew Pomeranz, the crown jewel of the Ubaldo Jimenez trade and a major piece of the Colorado Rockies' future, has been activated by the team in anticipation of his start on Sunday vs. the Arizona Diamondbacks. In order to clear space on the roster, the Rockies optioned utility infielder Jordan Pacheco to Triple-A Colorado Springs.
#Rockies recall LHP Drew Pomeranz, option INF/C Jordan Pacheco. Pomeranz (#13) will start today against the #Dbacks at 1:10pm.

The optioning of Pacheco, whose defense has been poor so far this season, means that fellow utility man Jonathan Herrera will stay up with the club and that Chris Nelson will have the third base job permanently, at least until top prospect Nolan Arenado is ready for his call up.
In four starts in the majors in 2011, Pomeranz was 2-1 with a 5.40 ERA and 1.31 WHIP. He has yet to face the Diamondbacks in his career.
