The Colorado Rockies picked up a run in the bottom of the ninth inning and had the bases loaded with two outs against San Francisco closer Brian Wilson, but they weren't able to complete the comeback and the Giants held on for a tense 4-2 win.
Madison Bumgarner was excellent for San Francisco, going 7-1/3 innings and allowing just four hits and one run in the process. The Giants took a 4-1 lead into the bottom of the ninth and nearly gave it all away as Brian Wilson struggled to take care of the Rockies.
Troy Tulowitzki led off the ninth with a double, Michael Cuddyer followed with a single, and after a Wilin Rosario strikeout, pinch hitter Jason Giambi loaded the bases with a single of his own. After a Todd Helton lineout, Tyler Colvin drew a walk to plate the second run of the day for Colorado. But they got no closer, as Marco Scutaro followed that up with a flyout to end the game.
