Giants Vs. Rockies: Colorado To Face Tim Lincecum

Stay connected for news and updates

The Colorado Rockies currently sit at 1-3, and to get their second win they'll have to get past a two-time NL Cy Young winner. Tim Lincecum will take the hill for the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday night, and though his name still carries plenty of weight, Lincecum started the 2012 with some doubts about his ability to be elite this year, and his Opening Day start against the Arizona Diamondbacks didn't do much to alleviate those concerns.

Lincecum's fastball velocity was down in the opener and he's all but scrapped his slider in order to relive stress on his arm. That combination played a role in him allowing five earned runs in 5.1 innings pitched to Arizona, though he did strike out seven. For his career, Lincecum has done just fine at Coors Field, posting a 3.61 ERA in ten career starts there. The Rockies will counter with new acquisition Jeremy Guthrie, who will be making his home debut on Wednesday night. In his first game as a Rockie on Opening Day, he allowed three earned runs in seven innings in Colorado's 5-3 victory over the Houston Astros.

Game date/time: Wednesday, April 11, 6:40 p.m. MT
