Colorado Rockies 2012 Rotation Includes Jamie Moyer

Colorado Rockies manager Jim Tracy has announced his 2012 starting rotation for the team and 49-year-old Jamie Moyer has it after signing a minor-league deal with the club during the offseason. He will start the second game of the season, a Saturday, April 7, contest against the Houston Astros. He will be the oldest start on an Opening Day roster as a result of this move.

Moyer is 2-0 with a 2.77 ERA in four starts this March. He's struck out 11 in 13 innings so far.

The anchor of the rotation will be Jeremy Guthrie, who had been named the Opening Day starter earlier in March. Juan Nicasio will pitch after Moyer while Jhoulys Chacin will start the home opener on April 9. The Rockies won't use a five-man rotation the first time through because of the day off on April 10. Drew Pomeranz will draw a Sunday, April 15, start for the Rockies. He is starting the season in extended spring training, however.
