Jan 16, 2012 - According to the official Twitter account of the Colorado Rockies, the Oakland Athletics have traded RHP Guillermo Moscoso and LHP Josh Outman for OF Seth Smith.
The 29-year-old Seth Smith has played with the Rockies since 2007, taking a starting role in 2011 -- a season where he hit .284/.347/.483 with 15 homers and 10 steals. The Rockies agreed to a 1-year contract with Smith earlier on Monday morning after months of trade rumors regarding the corner outfielder.
In exchange for Smith, the Rockies will receive a pair of starting pitchers with decent potential in Moscoso and Outman. The righty Moscoso started 21 games for the A's in 2011, sporting a 3.38 ERA and 4.23 FIP. Though he will be 28 in the 2012 season, Moscoso has only pitched 157 innings at the MLB level.
The left-handed Outman has spent the last two seasons as the Athletics' swing man, pitching in relief and collecting occasional spot starts. Outman will be 27 in the 2012 season and sports a career 3.75 ERA and 4.01 FIP.
