In a move that will surely (not) bring the Colorado Rockies back into contention, minor league infielder Alfredo Amezaga was sent to the Florida Marlins for Jesus Merchan. Amezaga played in 20 games for the Rockies in 2011 in his return from microfracture surgery. He had eight hits in 33 at-bats. Merchan is a 30-year-old infielder who has bounced around organizations and is a career .295 hitter in the minors.
