Braves Vs. Rockies: Colorado Splits Series With Atlanta, Loses Carlos Gonzalez To Injury

Sure, the Colorado Rockies lost, 9-6, on Thursday afternoon to split the series, but did they experience an even costlier loss in the game? Carlos Gonzalez reinjured his right wrist during the fifth inning of the game and left the game for an MRI. He has inflamed ligaments in his right wrist, but we have yet to hear anything on how long he may be out. Another tweet by Gonzalez's Twitter account has a quote from Carlos that makes it sound like a DL stint could happen, but, again, there is no official word on what is happening.

As for the results of the game, things went in favor of the Braves in the seventh inning. Colorado held a 6-5 lead with Matt Reynolds relieving Matt Belisle. After Eric Hinske grounded into the first out of the inning, Brooks Conrad following with a homer to tie the game, and Alex Gonzalez doubled before Nate McLouth tripled him in for the go-ahead run.

Matt Lindstrom entered once Wilkin Ramirez pinch-hit for starter Tommy Hanson. Ramirez grounded into a fielder's choice, but he reached first and saw McLouth score. Ramirez moved over to second on a Martin Prado ground out and scored on a Jason Heyward double.

The Braves got to a shaky Jhoulys Chacin in the third and fifth innings. Among the five runs he was charged with, Chacin gave up a two-run homer to Heyward in the third and a Freddie Freeman homer in the fifth.

The Rockies put six runs on the board through a Gonzalez solo shot (15), a Dexter Fowler two-run triple that was followed by a steal of home plate, a Seth Smith RBI triple and a Chris Iannetta sacrifice fly. Tommy Hanson was charged with all six runs while also striking out seven Rockies.

The Rockies (47-52, 26-26 home) head south for a road series with the Arizona Diamondbacks.
