Braves Vs. Rockies Final Score: Ubaldo Jimenez Strikes Out Nine, Troy Tulowitzki Homers In 12-3 Victory

It took six tries, but the Colorado Rockies finally defeated the Atlanta Braves in 2011. The Rockies clobbered the Braves in a 12-3 victory on Tuesday night. It was strong hitting and outstanding pitching backing up one another.

Ubaldo Jimenez, (6-8, 4.00 ERA) allowed two solo home runs to Dan Uggla and that was it in his 6 2/3 innings. More signs of Jimenez being the go-to pitcher the Rockies expect out of him, he struck out nine and walked just two. Matt Reynolds allowed an RBI ground out in the eighth before Matt Lindstrom finished things off in the ninth inning.

The Rockies offense was able to spook Brandon Beachy (3-2, 3.75 ERA) early on. Troy Tulowitzki started it with a three-run home run (18) in the first inning of the game and Carlos Gonzalez continued it with a solo shot (14) in the second inning. Seth Smith doubled in two in the third inning. Beachy left in the fifth inning, having walked five and struck out three.

Cody Gearrin and Scott Proctor allowed six more runs to the Rockies, including two triples by Seth Smith and Dexter Fowler. Fowler's triple was close to being an inside-the-park grand slam but turned into a three-run triple.

The Rockies (46-51, 25-25 home) play the Braves on Wednesday night at 6:40 p.m. MT. Tim Hudson and Juan Nicasio are scheduled to start.
