Whites Sox Vs. Rockies: Chicago Picks Up 3-2 Win On 9th Inning Sac Fly

It didn't take 13 innings and the same team didn't win on Wednesday night, but the final score between the Colorado Rockies and the Chicago White Sox was 3-2 again. The White Sox picked up that victory in the ninth inning. Huston Street came in for the ninth inning and allowed back-to-back singles to Carlos Quentin and Paul Konerko. With runners on first and third, Alexei Ramirez struck out. A.J. Pierzynski hit a sac fly to right field, giving Quentin a chance to score. Seth Smith made a throw to the plate, but Chris Iannetta was unable to come up with the ball. Instead, it bounced off his glove, allowing Quentin to score.

Jason Giambi (9) and Ty Wigginton (13) hit home runs in the sixth and seventh innings, respectively. Both of those runs were charged to starter Mark Buehrle (3.65 ERA), who went seven innings. Ubaldo Jimenez (3-7, 4.35 ERA) took a no-decision after allowing two runs in seven innings. Konerko and Pierzynski drove in the first two runs.

The Rockies (39-41, 20-20 home) finish this series on Thursday afternoon at 1:10 p.m. MT. Aaron Cook and Jake Peavy take the mound.
