May is over, so it is time for the Colorado Rockies to start something new in June. With Ubaldo Jimenez on the mound, the Rockies will look to get him his first win of the season. After a two-hit, eight-inning complete game loss against the Brewers, Jimenez got pounded by the St. Louis Cardinals for six runs on 12 hits in six innings to fall to 0-5. Now is the time for him to pick up that first win.
But that may be a tough task. Since their 15-run outburst against the Cardinals on Saturday, the Rockies have scored six runs over their last three games. Ty Wigginton has accounted for two of those runs through two solo home runs. And in the first game with the Dodgers, the Rockies picked up 14 hits and one run; they went 1-for-12 with runners in scoring position and followed that up on Tuesday with an 0-for-3 RISP.
The Dodgers will have Jon Garland on the mound. He just came off of a strong start against the Florida Marlins, allowing one run over six innings. He's been on the wrong end of run support, gaining just eight runs from the offense in five May starts. He did get shelled two starts earlier when he allowed seven runs in 3.2 innings. Other than that the most runs he allowed in in May came on the first day of the month when he gave up three.
First pitch is scheduled for 8:10 p.m. MT.
