Rockies Vs. Giants Final Score: Ryan Vogelsong Flirts With Perfection, Leads San Francisco To 3-0 Victory

At least the Colorado Rockies weren't no-hit in the San Francisco Giants' 3-0 victory on Sunday afternoon. But for the first five innings, the Rockies couldn't even say that. In fact, Ryan Vogelsong was perfect through five innings. Still, being swept by the San Francisco Giants is the bigger issue here. The Rockies have just a one-game lead over the Giants in the division.

Chris Iannetta and Carlos Gonzalez were the only Rockies batters to have a hit in this game. Iannetta broke up Vogelsong's perfecto with a single to center field to start the sixth and then added another single in the eighth. Gonzalez, who walked in the seventh, picked up a ground ball single to center field in the ninth, but then Troy Tulowitzki grounded out to end the game.

Rockies starter Jorge De La Rosa plodded his way through the first inning with two early walks, but then a double play saved him. He issued the third of his five walks after that double play, but escaped the inning with a strikeout. He wound up striking out seven Giants, but allowed two run-scoring Cody Ross plays. In the fourth, Ross had an RBI single and then followed in the sixth with a two-run homer.

The final lines for the two pitchers:
De La Rosa: 6 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 5 BB, 7 K
Vogelsong: 6.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 4 K

The Rockies (18-14) return to Coors Field for a eight-game homestand, starting Monday with a three-game series with the New York Mets.
