Any chance that the Colorado Rapids have of making the MLS Cup Playoffs in 2012 can be boiled down to their game on Friday against the Los Angeles Galaxy. Colorado currently sit in seventh place of the Western Conference, two spots out of the playoff picture. They will need all the wins they can get to get back into it, but the ones against the Galaxy and Whitecaps, in fourth and fifth place, will be the big ones.
Essentially, every game until the end of the season will have the Rapids fighting for their playoff lives.
Hendry Thomas will be the key for the Rapids in the defensive midfield as he takes on a loaded Galaxy offense that includes Mike McGee, Juninho and David Beckham. Landon Donovan will also likely be returning from a month long injury to face Colorado -- he scored the winning goal in the last meeting between the two teams back in April.
The game will be at the Home Depot Center at 9 p.m. MT. It will be shown on Altitude in the Denver Metro area.
