The Colorado Rapids could not handle the attacks from Alvaro Saborio, leading to a 2-0 Real Salt Lake win.
The Colorado Rapids (7-12-1, 22 pts) could not overcome the Western Conference's No. 2 team, Real Salt Lake (11-7-3, 36 pts), as Colorado fell 2-0.
G Matt Pickens added another 2 saves to his season stats, but F Alvaro Saborio gave Salt Lake a 1-0 lead at 32 minutes. Then, with only seconds remaining, Saborio fed M Will Johnson for a game-sealing goal and a 2-0 Real Salt Lake lead:
Meanwhile, the Rapids offense managed zero shots on target. D Tyson Wahl and M Martin Rivero both had attempts on the Salt Lake goal, but the shots did not even come close. G Nick Rimando for Salt Lake finished the day with zero saves and not a single addition to his stat line.
The Rapids will be back in action Tuesday, July 24, against Swansea City.
