Colorado vs. USC: Ray Polk, Christian Powell hope to play against Trojans

The Colorado Buffaloes are expecting a key contributor back on both sides of the ball for this Saturday's game against USC.

Running back Christian Powell (probable) and free safety Ray Polk (questionable) are both expected to play for the Colorado Buffaloes in this Saturday's game against the USC Trojans, according to the team website.

Powell didn't play in Colorado's 51-17 loss to ASU last weekend due to a deep thigh bruise while Polk is battling through a high ankle sprain but "believes he can play."

Powell, a converted fullback, leads the team in rushing with 69 attempts for 294 yards and three touchdowns. He's the thunder to Tony Jones' lightening, so the Buffaloes will need him badly to squeeze out tough yardage against a very talented USC front-seven.

As for Polk, the senior ball hawk hasn't seen the field since Colorado's 22-17 season opening loss to Colorado State. Polk recorded two tackles in that game exiting and being replaced with Parker Orms. Polk played most of 2011 with a broken sternum but has logged one interception and 168 tackles over his four-year campaign at Colorado.
