The Colorado Buffaloes and Washington State Cougars are locked in a 7-7 tie after one quarter of play at Martin Stadium in Pullman, Wash. Both teams scored on their first offensive possession of the game.

Washington State got on the board first, as quarterback Connor Halliday connected on a 32-yard touchdown strike to freshman wide receiver Gabe Marks to cap off a six-play, 75-yard drive. Colorado would answer a little over four minutes later, as Buffaloes wide receiver Nelson Spruce caught a 16-yard pass from quarterback Jordan Webb for the score.

The defenses held up through the end of the quarter, as Colorado's Jered Bell intercepted a pass at the CU 3-yard line and returned it for 37 yards. That gave the Buffs prime field position, but they were unable to capitalize. The Cougars stopped Colorado short of the endzone, and Buffaloes kicker Will Oliver missed a 30-yard field goal.
