Josh Scott's European Performance Encourages Tad Boyle

After a five game European exhibition tour, Colorado Buffaloes head coach Tad Boyle is really encouraged about the direction of the basketball team and the play of freshman Josh Scott.

Scott, Colorado's prized recruit for the 2012 year, led the Buffaloes with 17.4 points and 7.0 rebounds per game in Europe, en route to two wins and three losses for the team.

"Josh [Scott] is everything we thought he would be and maybe a little bit more," Boyle told Ryan Thorburn of BuffZone.com. "He has a knack for scoring down low and he's aggressive, which lends itself to basketball at this level. He rebounded the ball well, too."

"I was encouraged with how he chased down some rebounds and that he gets to line because he's a good foul shooter."

Colorado's basketball season will begin on Friday, Nov. 9 when they host Wofford College at the Coors Events Center.

Freshman forward Josh Scott led Colorado in scoring with 19 points on 8-13 shooting and pulled down five rebounds. Forwards Andre Roberson (18 points, 12 rebounds) and Xavier Johnson (11 points, 10 rebounds) both secured double-doubles in the blowout victory.

The Buffs shot 41-87 (47%) as a team on the night, outpacing Rotterdam to secure a comfortable 57-34 halftime lead. Colorado outrebounded the Chargers 32-13 in the first half, as well.

Colorado Basketball Falls To Belgian Team

The Colorado Buffaloes basketball team lost to Gembo BBC Borgerhout of Belgium, 88-86, on Sunday night. It was nearly an incredible come-from-behind victory for Colorado, who had solely played freshman in the exhibition game.

The Pac-12 champions are on a 10-day, five-game tour of Europe that has included games against AMW France Elite and Optima Ghent of Belgium, with Sunday's game against Gembo BBC included to provide experience for the underclassmen on the team.

Down 84-74 with a minute remaining in the game following back-to-back three pointers by Gembo BBC, the Buffaloes fought back with Kevin Nelson providing four quick points to close the game 86-83 with 16.6 remaining. CU would force a turnover on the ensuing possession but Josh Scott would miss the potentially tying shot, allowing Gembo to extend the lead with two last-second free throws.

Gembo BBC was the Belgian Division II champions in 2011-12 and put a much more experience team on the court against Colorado, who aimed to get some of their rather inexperience players some valuable game time against a good team.

Said coach Tad Boyle:

"It gave us a great-look-into our freshmen class that are not normally in the rotation and getting them some minutes, so I thought the way we competed and lose by two to a very quality team that I think is better than the team we beat last night (Sat., Aug. 18), it gives us a lot of things to build on. The thing about this trip, is you want to learn as much as you can about your young players and we had a chance to do that today."

CU will wrap up their exhibition tour with a game against the Rotterdam Challengers on Monday.

Colorado Basketball 2012: Buffs Fall To French All-Stars Again

Colorado Buffaloes freshman forward Josh Scott put together a strong showing Thursday scoring a team-best 13 points with 10 rebounds, but the effort wasn't enough as his team fell to the AMW France Elite "Pro A" All-Stars, 91-74. The loss dropped the Buffaloes to 0-2 on their five-game European trip.

Colorado began the game with a 11-2 lead, but AMW used a 26-17 run in the final 10 minutes of the second half to take a 41-32 lead into halftime.

AMW put the game away with solid shooting performance in the third quarter, which featured the French team making 11-of-14 shots from the field, including four 3-pointers.

Freshman Xavier Johnson came off the bench to score 12 points and collect five rebounds, while sophomore Spencer Dinwiddie added seven and four.

Colorado has three games left on its European trip, which will venture into Belgium this weekend for two games and end in the Netherlands on Monday.
