CU Assistant Tom Abatemarco In Contact With St. John's

Coaching moves always have ripple effects, and the Charlotte Bobcats' hiring of St. John's assistant Mike Dunlap may end up reaching Boulder, Colo. The Denver Post reported on Saturday that Buffaloes assistant Tom Abatemarco has been contacted by St. John's Red Storm head coach Steve Lavin regarding the position vacated by Dunlap.

Abatemarco declined comment regarding the position, but the Post's Tom Kensler speculates that the move would likely entail a promotion for Abatemarco, who is currently seen as Colorado's third highest ranking assistant. Dunalp, on the other hand, was Lavin's right hand.

Abatemarco was raised in New York City, and coached for a year at St. John's during the 1978-1979 season.
