Connor Wood has indeed chosen to transfer from the Texas Longhorns to the Colorado Buffaloes, according to Wood's father (via Hookem.com). News of Woods' interest in Colorado began on Monday when he took a reported visited to the Boulder campus. The redshirt freshman was named co-No. 3 quarterback for the Longhorns on Monday with David Ash.
Wood will have three years to play three seasons since he will need to sit out this year under NCAA rules. The Ralphie Report likes this pick up:
This is a good move for both Wood and the Buffaloes as he will have a chance to come in and compete for a job on a team with a departing senior quarterback and the Buffs get more depth at the position.
The Colorado staff must believe that top quarterback Shane Dillon won't be turned off by this news, as some Colorado sources have claimed that Dillon is the top priority for the Buffs and their quarterback of the future. However, an untested freshman shouldn't have anything guaranteed for him. The quarterback competition between Wood, Dillon, Nick Hirschman and John Schrock should be an intense one in 2012.

On Monday, Texas quarterback Connor Wood reportedly visited the Colorado campus for a possible transfer to the Buffaloes. It was an unofficial visit since Texas has yet to release Wood from his scholarship. However, a move to Boulder isn't a given for Wood. Do the Buffs need another quarterback in an already crowded field for the 2012 derby?
According to Kyle Ringo of the Daily Camera, the Buffs' staff is currently considering that question. The staff is considering two things with Wood: does he fit in with the Buffs and Boulder and will this affect the verbal commitment they received from Shane Dillon. Dillon is a Rivals four-star recruit for this year's class and, according to Ringo's CU source, the future at quarterback for the Buffs.
Wood was a four-star recruit in 2010 and is entering his redshirt freshman year. Wood needs to make a decision before he loses even more eligibility.

It will take some time for all the Connor Wood transfer rumors to play out, but it appears that Wood will receive a release from his scholarship should he ultimately decide to transfer. According to Randy Riggs of the Austin Statesman, a Texas official has said that they will allow Wood to leave his scholarship and transfer.
Wood reportedly visited Colorado today, but it was likely not an official visit. As the Denver Post points out, Colorado cannot officially host Wood unless he has been released from his scholarship.
Should Wood decide on moving to Boulder, there will certainly be a quarterback shuffle in the coming years. Could another school come in and contact top recruit Shane Dillon, a verbal commit to the Buffs right now? Might any of the other quarterbacks on the roster decide to transfer? Maybe the real question is whether Wood has the talent to be the starter for the Buffs. Just because he was a top high school recruit for the usually loaded Texas Longhorns doesn't guarantee that he is a future star or even solid starter.
