Former Buffs CB Jimmy Smith Signs Contract With Baltimore Ravens

Former Colorado Buffaloes cornerback and current Baltimore Ravens first round draft pick Jimmy Smith has agreed to contract terms with the team. Terms of the deal under the freshly signed CBA agreement have been released with Jimmy totaling $7.4 million, including a $3.9 million signing bonus. Smith, who was the 27th overall pick in the draft will have three of those four years guaranteed. He is taking part in his first practice as a Raven today.

Jimmy Smith was widely considered to be the second-best cornerback in the 2011 NFL Draft, but concerns over a rash of personal issues during his time in Boulder caused him to slip down near the end of the first round. As a Buffalo, Smith shut down his side of the field (when quarterbacks would throw his way, which was rare) but was often denied the opportunity to line up against the opposition's number one receiver due to the defensive scheme.
