Colorado University Vs. No. 21 Arizona State: Sun Devils Skewer Buffaloes 48-14

Going into Tempe with a slew of injuries, the Colorado University Buffaloes (1-8) had not much more than the most outside of chances to pull an upset against the No. 21-ranked Arizona State Sun Devils (6-2), and they indeed looked over-matched today as the Buffs fell 48-14 in a Sun Devils laser=light show.

Scoring 31 points in the first half alone, the Sun Devil offense hardly noticed the Buffaloes defenders. Finishing the day with 300 yards passing and two touchdowns, Arizona St. quarterback Brock Osweiler only looked human when the Buffaloes defenders nabbed his fumble for a touchdown return.

Running free and easy, Sun Devil tailback Cameron Marshall averaged over 7.5 yards per carry, slashing the Colorado defense for 117 yards and three touchdowns of his own.

The Buffaloes offense, however, could not keep the ball secured, losing three fumbles and tossing two interceptions. Quarterback Tyler Hansen, who passed for 286 yards and a late game touchdown, could never quite escape the Arizona St. defenders, whereas running back Josh Ford seemed to manage rather well against them, rushing for 72 yards on just 10 carries.

The Buffaloes will be home again next Friday night, taking on the USC Trojans.

Score Update: Colorado Buffaloes Trail Arizona State Sun Devils 31-7

The Colorado Buffaloes' bid to upset the No. 21 Arizona St. Sun Devils is off to a rough start as the Buffaloes have fallen to a deep deficit at halftime.

Arizona soared to an early lead, scoring touchdowns on two Brock Osweiler passes and a 19 yard Cameron Marshall run. With a 24-0 lead in the second quarter, the Arizona offense finally faltered as Josh Moten gathered in a Osweiler fumble, scoring on a 16 yard scoop-n-score special.

With Colorado finally on the board, Cameron Marshall pushed the lead to 31-7 with an 11-yard dash to the end-zone.

The Buffaloes offense has struggled through the first half with quarterback Tyler Hansen completing 13 of 21 for 160 yards and an interception. Meanwhile, running back Tony Jones has hit a bit of a wall, running for only 17 yards on 5 carries.

Colorado figures to pass the ball heavily going into the second half, looking for a comeback.

Colorado Vs. Arizona State Game Time, TV Schedule, Spread And Notes

The No. 23 ranked Arizona Sun Devils are coming off a bye week to host the reeling Colorado Buffaloes this Saturday afternoon. The Buffaloes (1-7) are bruised and battered after three consecutive blowout losses, and are heavy underdogs against the Sun Devils this week. As if they needed any extra motivation in this game, Arizona State can earn bowl eligibility with a win on Saturday.

The teams have only met two other times in their history, and neither game has been particularly close. In 2006, the Buffaloes lost at home 21-3, while in 2007 they lost on the road to the Sun Devils 33-14. Colorado will not be at full strength heading into this game, as QB Tyler Hansen (concussion) may not be available, WR Paul Richardson (knee) will likely be out, and RB Rodney Stewart is questionable (knee) as well.

Game date, time: 4:30 p.m. MT, Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011

Location: Sun Devil Stadium (Frank Kush Field), Tempe, AZ

TV channel: Root Sports Rocky Mountain/Root Sports Northwest
