Oregon Vs. Colorado Final Score: Ducks Demolish Buffs, 45-2

It's become a familiar remain over the last couple of weeks: "Losing hasn't had enough of Jon Embree, even while he's had enough of losing." In the latest free fall for the Colorado Buffaloes, the Oregon Ducks defeated them on Saturday afternoon, 45-2.

Oregon dominated this game from the moment Colorado kicked the ball to start the game. Backup quarterback Bryan Bennett started in place of the injured Darron Thomas and threw two touchdown passes in the first quarter. Running back Kenjon Barner, starting in place of the injured LaMichael James, found the end zone twice in the first quarter and had 115 yards on 10 carries.

The Ducks lead, 29-0, at the end of the first quarter as a result of a successful two-point conversion on the first touchdown score. The Ducks added a pick-six of Tyler Hansen in the second quarter for a 35-0 lead at the end of the first half. Tra Carson added a rushing touchdown in the third quarter and Alejandro Maldonado kicked a field goal to complete the Ducks' scoring.

Colorado put its two points on the board when Cliff Harris had a two-yard loss into his end zone for a safety. Quarterback Tyler Hansen left the game after a concussion, giving Nick Hirschman time under center. Tony Jones had 71 yards on the ground after starting in place of Rodney Stewart.

The 1-7 Colorado Buffaloes visit the Arizona St. Sun Devils next Saturday.

Tyler Hansen Injury: Colorado QB Suffers Concussion In 2nd Quarter

Things just keep getting worse for the Colorado Buffaloes. The latest injury to hurt the Buffs was a concussion to quarterback Tyler Hansen late in the second quarter. At halftime, coach Jon Embree told KOA that the hit on Hansen should have been a penalty (via Dave Krieger).

Nicholas Hirschman entered the game for Hansen at the end of the half and will continue under center for the second half. Hansen is not returning for the second half, and, as Adam Munsterteiger points out, Hansen is the 21st Buffaloes player to be lost due to injury or suspension.

Colorado received the ball to start the second half and will look to chip away at the Ducks' 35-0 lead.

Oregon Vs. Colorado Halftime Score: Ducks Dominate Buffs In 1st Half, 35-0

The Colorado Buffaloes are pretty much just playing to save face against the Oregon Ducks on Saturday afternoon. The Ducks lead the Buffs at halftime, 35-0, and scored only once in the second quarter.

The last scoring play was a pick-six on Colorado quarterback Tyler Hansen. Michael Clay intercepted him at the Buffs' 32-yard line and took it to the end zone. Kicker Alejandro Maldonado missed the extra point. But the Ducks didn't really lose a point since they had a successful two-point conversion on their first touchdown of the game.

The Ducks scored on two Bryan Bennett touchdown passes and two Kenjon Barner rushing touchdowns. Barner picked up 105 yards on nine carries.

For Colorado, Tyler Hansen left the game after taking a hit to the head. Freshman Nick Hirschman came in for him at the end of the second quarter. Tony Jones, starting in place of Rodney Stewart, does have 72 yards on 16 carries.

Oregon Vs. Colorado Score Update: Ducks Lead Buffs, 15-0

The Oregon Ducks are going for the points early against the Colorado Buffaloes. On the first drive of the game, the Ducks picked up a touchdown and then went for the two-point conversion, which was successful. Bryan Bennett did start at quarterback for the Ducks and he had a 43-yard run that eventually wound up at Colorado's 12-yard run due to a late hit on the sidelines by Kyle Washington. Kenjon Barner punched the ball in a couple of plays later.

The Buffs' first drive was hurt by a sack and two offside penalties. Colorado punted from its five-yard line, giving the Ducks excellent field position. Bryan Bennett eventually found De'Anthony Thomas for a 14-yard touchdown pass and the 15-0 lead.

The Buffs defense, depleted and inexperienced, is in for a long day.

Oregon Vs. Colorado Update: Bryan Bennett Likely Starter At QB For Ducks

The Oregon Ducks will be without starting quarterback Darron Thomas for Saturday's game against the Colorado Buffaloes. During 7-on-7 warmups, backup Bryan Bennett took all of the first-team snaps, reports Rob Moseley of the Register-Guard.

Thomas left last Saturday's game against Arizona State with a sprained knee. Bennett filled in for Thomas and went 2-of-5 for 22 yards. He also rushed  for 65 yards on five carries, including a 36-yard dash. He also saw playing time in blowout victories against the Nevada Wolf Pack and the Missouri St. Bears.

Bennett is a redshirt freshman and will be making his first career start. He faces a Colorado defense that is filled with holes and inexperience.

Oregon Vs. Colorado Injury Report: Ducks' LaMichael James Doubtful, Buffs' Ray Polk Out

The Colorado Buffaloes will be without three members of the secondary. Ray Polk and Jason Espinoza are out with concussion symptoms and Brian Lockridge is dealing with an ankle issue, according to Buffzone.com's Kyle Ringo. These injuries are in addition to running back Rodney Stewart, linebacker Douglas Rippy and wide receiver Paul Richardson being ruled out earlier in the week.

For the Oregon Ducks, running back LaMichael James is doubtful with his elbow injury and Darron Thomas is questionable to start at quarterback. Kenjon Barner will shoulder the load at running back most likely and Bryan Bennett would start behind the center if Thomas is unable to play. But that's still enough firepower to keep the Buffs down.

Oregon Vs. Colorado Game Time, TV Schedule, Spread And Notes

The last time the Colorado Buffaloes faced the Oregon Ducks was two coaching eras ago in 2002 when Gary Barnett was still the head coach. That game, of course, was the 2002 Fiesta Bowl that the Joey Harrington-led Ducks won, 38-17. The Fiesta Bowl marked the third straight bowl game the Buffs had played the Ducks in, and it was the only one they lost. The Buffs won the 1996 Cotton Bowl and the 1998 Aloha Classic.

Historically, this has been an almost even contest with Colorado holding a slight edge in 15 games, 8-7. But the Ducks appear ready to even this series at 8-8 with the Buffs continuing a free fall this season. The Buffs already have a weak defense that was hurt by injuries and suspensions and the offense has been inconsistent. Running back Rodney Stewart and wide receiver Paul Richardson are out, making the offense rely that much more on Tyler Hansen to look better than he has so far.

Game date, time: 1:30 p.m. MT, Saturday, Oct. 22, 2011

Location: Folsom Field, Boulder, CO

TV channel: Root Sports Rocky Mountain/Root Sports Northwest

Spread: Oregon is favored by 31-1/2 points

Series history: Buffaloes lead the all-time series, 8-7
