Report: Dan Hawkins Likely To Keep Job For Rest Of Season

Even a 35-point comeback by the Kansas Jayhawks won’t send Dan Hawkins to an early end this season. According to John Henderson of the Denver Post, sources close to the situation reports Dan Hawkins will finish out the season as the Colorado Buffaloes head coach:

Colorado coach Dan Hawkins will likely keep his job until the end of the season, a source said Saturday night, and said athletic director Mike Bohn wants to keep the continuity with quarterback Cody Hawkins, the coach’s son.

Henderson’s source goes on to say that quarterback Cody Hawkins is close to setting school records, so any disruption caused by Dan Hawkins’ departure could adversely affect the situation under center. A meeting between Hawkins and athletic director Mike Bohn is expected this week.

Colorado Completely Collapses In The Fourth Quarter, Falls To Kansas

That was an EPIC COLLAPSE. The Colorado Buffaloes blew a 45-17 lead in the FOURTH QUARTER to lose to the Kansas Jayhawks 52-45 after allowing the Jayhawks to score 35 straight points in the fourth quarter. Yes, you read the right. Thirty-five straight points.

The Buffaloes were able to drive down the field with 50 seconds remaining in the game but couldn’t get further than the Kansas seven yard line after a Paul Richardson catch in the end zone with seven seconds remaining was ruled out of bounds.

Colorado has now lost 16 straight road games, not winning since November 2007. This loss to Kansas could be the absolute worst of all. Athletic Director Mike Bohn will now be forced to decide if he wants to wait until the end of the season before firing current head coach Dan Hawkins, or if this was a terrible enough display to fire him this week.

Kansas Scores Three Straight Touchdowns To Come Within Seven Of Colorado

A Toney Clemons fumble and subsequent returned touchdown has pulled the Jayhawks within seven points of the Buffaloes with seven minutes remaining in the fourth quarter.

Prior to the fumble recovery, Kansas scored on a 13-yard James Sims touchdown run and 38-yard Quinn Meacham touchdown pass.

After the Kansas fumble recovery and touchdown, Cody Hawkins threw an interception to give the Jayhawks to tie the game 6 minutes remaining in the game.

If the Buffaloes blow a 45-17 lead, Colorado fans are going to have a very, very bad weekend.
