College Football Picks: Can Colorado Defeat Iowa State For Their First Conference Win?

Stay connected for news and updates

It can’t get any worse for the Colorado Buffaloes as they square off against the Iowa State Cyclones on Saturday at Folsom Field. Coming off a humiliating fourth quarter loss to the Kansas Jayhawks that worsened their conference record to 0-5 then receiving news that CU fired head coach Dan Hawkins, the Buffs really have no place to go but up, right?

Not if you believe David Ubben of ESPN.com, who predicts

Iowa State 30, Colorado 24: Colorado is obviously a huge wild card here, but Iowa State knows what’s at stake: A loss here would probably keep them out of a bowl with Missouri the only team left on the schedule. The Buffs turn in a great effort, but seniors Austen Arnaud and Alexander Robinson turn in better ones with a pair of big days.

Programs that were at the top don’t stay at the bottom forever, so it will get better in Boulder. But it looks like that may have to wait until the move to the Pac-12.
