The NHL has announced the cancellation of 61 preseason games due to the current lockout.

The NHL has announced the cancellation of the 2012 NHL Preaseason through Sept. 30 because of the current lockout of players by the league. In total, 61 games across the NHL have been canceled.

From the NHL:

The cancellation of the schedule was necessary because of the absence of a Collective Bargaining Agreement between the NHL Players' Association and the NHL.

While the Kraft Hockeyville game has been postponed, many of the scheduled celebrations in the winning community of Stirling-Rawdon, Ontario, will proceed as planned beginning on Sept. 30.

This cancellation includes three Colorado Avalanche games, one home and three away. The team was set to play Los Angeles (Sept. 26), at Anaheim (Sept. 28) and at Los Angeles (Sept. 29). As it stands, four preseason games remain on the schedule in the first week of October, including two against the Dallas Stars and a home game against the New York Rangers.
