Matt Duchene Injury Update: Avalanche Forward To Return On Sunday Vs. Winnipeg

Stay connected for news and updates

The Colorado Avalanche received good news on Saturday: injured forward Matt Duchene, out since Dec. 29, will return to the ice on Sunday. He will lace up his skates for Colorado against the Winnipeg Jets.

Duchene injured his knee against the Phoenix Coyotes on Dec. 29 and was expected to be out for a month at first. At the end of January, Duchene's return was put on ice for a little bit longer and termed indefinite.

Colorado snapped a two-game losing streak on Friday night with a 3-1 victory over the Edmonton Oilers, but they have failed to win more than two straight games since early January. When Duchene was initially injured, the Avalanche went on a four-game winning streak, only to lose the next three.

Duchene has 12 goals and 12 assists for the Avalanche in 39 games, the former a tie for fifth on the team with David Jones.
