Avalanche Vs. Canucks: Colorado Drops Game To Vancouver, 4-2

Vancouver, BC (Sports Network) - Henrik Sedin scored two third-period goals, and the Vancouver Canucks clinched their third consecutive Northwest Division title with a 4-2 comeback victory over the Colorado Avalanche at Rogers Arena.

Maxim Lapierre and Alexandre Burrows also lit the lamp for Vancouver, which became the first team to secure a playoff berth. Daniel Sedin collected two assists and Cory Schneider made 27 saves in the win, the seventh straight for the Canucks.

Vancouver leads the NHL with 103 points, two shy of tying the single-season club record set in 2006-07.

Brian Elliott stopped 36 shots for the Avalanche, who fell to 0-8-1 in their last nine games and have dropped 19 of 20 overall.

Down 2-1, Burrows backhanded a rebound off a Daniel Sedin shot to pull Vancouver even at the 9:32 mark of the third period.

Henrik Sedin then took a drop pass from his twin brother and fired a wrister behind Elliott to give the Canucks a 3-2 lead with 8:10 remaining. He provided some insurance with an empty-net goal.

Erik Johnson and Matt Duchene put Colorado ahead 2-0 with goals in the first period.

The Avalanche opened the scoring on a power play when Johnson let go a slap shot that beat Schneider on the short side at 11:20. Colorado doubled its advantage 1:27 later as Duchene's pass deflected in off the skate of Vancouver defenseman Sami Salo.

It was a rough frame for Salo, who was in the penalty box for Johnson's tally.

Lapierre tapped in Chris Higgins' feed from behind the net to put the Canucks on the board at 6:37 of the middle stanza.

The Avalanche lost for the first time this season when leading after two periods (15-1-0)...Vancouver took five of six from Colorado in the season series...Henrik Sedin played in his 800th NHL game.
