Stay connected for news and updates

The Colorado Avalanche rallied from a one-goal deficit after the first period to take a 2-1 lead heading into the final period on Sunday night. Ryan O'Reilly scored his fifth goal of the season and tied the game less than 30 seconds into the second period, and Paul Stastny gave Colorado the lead with a power play goal about 90 seconds after that.

Unofficially, the Avalanche have a 26-15 edge in shots on goal through two periods, including a dominant 19-4 effort in the second. The Avs also have won 18 of 35 faceoffs and are out-hitting Detroit, 20-5.

Both teams have converted on the power play tonight. Johan Franzen scored Detroit's lone goal.
