Avalanche Vs. Blues Score Update: Teams Tied 1-1 After First Period

Stay connected for news and updates

In his first game back at the Pepsi Center in Denver after being traded by the Avalanche this February, St. Louis Blues defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk scored the opening goal of the night on Friday to give the Blues a 1-0 lead. The lead would not stand for long though, as the Avalanche tied the game exactly five minutes later on Milan Hejduk's ninth goal of the season, which came on assists from Ryan O'Reilly and Ryan Wilson.

The goal by Shattenkirk came on the power play, where the Blues had only scored 10% of the time on the season. The Avalanche will start the second period on the power play themselves, after Blues winger David Backes was sent to the box for high sticking with only 26 seconds left in the first period.
