Avalanche Vs. Bruins Update: Semyon Varlamov, Tuukka Rask Pitching Shutouts After 2nd Period

Stay connected for news and updates

The Colorado Avalanche have now gone 100 minutes without scoring a goal in this 2011-12 season. After two period against the Boston Bruins, the Avalanche are tied with them at zero. The Avalanche still hold an edge in shooting, 26-18, but there are brick walls in the net. Semyon Varlamov and Tuukka Rask are coming up with big saves.

Boston had a good chance to score with a minute left on the clock, but the Avalanche were able to prevent Brad Marchand from getting off a shot while he looked to score from the wing.

Boston was unable to come up with anything on the period's lone power play. Jay McClement received two minutes for hooking Gregory Campbell. The teams are a combined 0-for-5 on the power play so far.

One of these goalies has to give up something up, and we can only hope that it's Rask. A punchless offense by the Avalanche is the last thing we want to see at the start of the season.
