The Colorado Avalanche defeated the Edmonton Oilers, 4-3, on Thursday night following a shootout. Milan Hejduk scored the only goal of the shootout when he took Colorado's first shot. Craig Anderson stopped all three shots he faced to give the Avalanche the victory.
However, Craig Anderson probably wanted the game to end earlier, but he allowed two goals early in the third period to tie the game at three. The Oilers' Alex Hemsky and Andrew Cogliano scored the goals and assisted on the each other's score. Dustin Penner assisted on both goals.
Colorado goalie Craig Anderson made 32-of-35 stops, while Oilers goals Devan Dubnyk stopped 24-of-27 shots.
The Avalanche (20-12-5, 45 points close out 2010 with a road game against the Calgary Flames at 7:00 p.m. MT on Friday.
