The Denver Broncos took an early 10-3 lead against the Oakland Raiders.
The Denver Broncos lead the Oakland Raiders 10-3 after the first quarter of play at Sports Authority Field.
The Broncos got things going early in the quarter, capping off a long 11 play, 80 yard drive with a 22 yard touchdown strike from Peyton Manning to tight end Joel Dreessen.
Oakland responded on their first possession of the game, driving 60 yards down the field in a little under four minutes before converting on a 38-yard field goal by kicker Sebastian Janikowski.
Denver finished off the quarter with another time consuming drive, going 77 yards in close to seven minutes before knocking in a 21-yard field goal by kicker Matt Prater.
Peyton Manning had an efficient quarter, finishing 13/17 for 134 yards and a touchdown. The Broncos accumulated eight first downs compared to three for the Raiders. Oakland's offense only took the field once thanks to lengthy drives from Manning and company.
