Broncos vs. Panthers 2012: Return of the 'Orange Crush'?

Grant Halverson

After a superb showing by the defense against the Carolina Panthers, the Broncos defense might once again be an 'Orange Crush.'

The Denver Broncos' offense has been impressive all season long with Peyton Manning at the helm, putting up 21 or more points in every game so far. Against the Carolina Panthers, the Broncos still put up 36 points but were led by a superb defensive performance more than another Peyton Manning show.

During the 36-14 victory, Denver destroyed Cam Newton in just about every facet of the game. The pressure forced Cam into quick decisions, holding the ball for too long, and sack after sack by Von Miller, plus an abysmal 1-5 clip on third down.

Denver Broncos blog Mile High Report was impressed by the defense, even saying that it may be time to return to the classic "Orange Crush" nickname if they can keep that level of dominance up:

I don't know about you folks, but with the way our defense has been dominant on 3rd down, forced sacks, gotten pressure, and forced turnovers----they very well may be as strong as our offense which had a rough day. After seeing this performance today and in recent weeks, I for one am not afraid to proclaim that Broncos Country once again has the "Orange Crush."

The recently Denver defense, as well as the rest of the team, will take on the San Diego Chargers in another AFC West showdown next weekend at Sports Authority Field.
