After a big 37-6 win at home against the Oakland Raiders, the Denver Broncos weren't able to follow that up on the road against the New England Patriots this past weekend. Tom Brady got the best of Peyton Manning and the Broncos in a 31-21 victory on Sunday. As a result, we'll see the Broncos drop in the Week 6 NFL power rankings.
Manning threw for 345 yards and three touchdowns, but he also committed one of the three lost fumbles by the team. Receiver Demaryius Thomas and running back Willis McGahee had the other lost fumbles and cost the Broncos points that they almost surely would have put on the board otherwise. Three Patriots rushing touchdowns and Stevan Ridley's 151 rushing yards also didn't help things.
On Tuesday, Denver should find itself outside of the top 15 in the latest rankings. The Broncos played Sunday's game as the No. 15 team in SB Nation's power rankings and could slot into the 16-to-20 range, having been No. 18 two weeks ago following the loss to the NFL's best, the Houston Texans.
Other outlets had the Broncos higher last week -- in the 10-to-13 range -- but it seems unlikely that the Broncos will stay that high in any of them this week.
