Broncos activate Virgil Green from suspended list

Mark J. Rebilas-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

The Broncos tight end was activated after serving a four game suspension for violation of the league's substance abuse policy.

The Denver Broncos have activated tight end Virgil Green from the suspended list, according to Mike Klis of the Denver Post.

Green was serving a four-game suspension for violating the league's substance abuse policy, which was announced in March. Green said he tested positive for an attention deficit hyperactivity medication that was prescribed to him, but which he had not yet cleared through the league.

"At the end of the day, you have to accept the consequences and look to the next level," Green said back in September when the suspension began.

Green has spent the past month in Denver and was allowed to keep the iPad with the team's playbook on it, although he was not allowed to communicate with the team during the suspension.

A seventh-round draft pick in 2011 out of Nevada, Green had just three receptions for 24 yards his rookie year and has developed primarily as a blocking tight end with the Broncos.
