Saints vs. Broncos 2012: Denver fans cherishing Peyton Manning's level of play

Byron Hetzler-US PRESSWIRE

The Denver Broncos risk of signing Peyton Manning is more about the rewards as things have begun to click.

For the Denver Broncos, the signing of Peyton Manning this offseason was an obvious risk. Now with a 4-3 record and with the offense starting to hit its stride behind the future Hall of Fame quarterback, Broncos fans are cherishing the opportunity to watch history.

Manning is producing. After a 34-14 victory against the New Orleans Saints in which he went 22-of-30 for 305 yards and three touchdowns, the veteran stands alone in one regard. He is the only quarterback in NFL history to produce four consecutive games of more than 300 yards passing, a completions percentage of at least 70 percent and three touchdowns in each, according to the Broncos public relations office.

And fans like KaptainKirk at Mile High Report realize what they're witnessing:

The biggest story of the offseason and largest gripe on the executive skills of Broncos VP of Football operations John Elway, Peyton "Freaking" Manning, has put any remaining doubters complaints to bed.

We are getting a first-hand, close-up look of a second Denver Bronco quarterback to be enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton. Consider yourselves privileged and maybe just a little spoiled. Enjoy the ride, because when this team peaks, you're going to want to witness it.

Manning's numbers allude to how well Denver has played in the past few games. The Broncos are now on a two-game winning streak and will have the opportunity to extend that with a meeting with the 3-4 Cincinnati Bengals this coming Sunday.

And against the average Bengals' pass defense, Denver fans think Manning might continue his own statistical streak.
