The Denver Broncos' win against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday gave them sole possession of the lead in the AFC West standings.
They received help from the San Diego Chargers, who surprisingly fell 7-6 to the Cleveland Browns on Sunday to continue their downward spiral.
The 3-4 Chargers are in second place, but have lost three games in a row. Denver's Monday Night victory over their division rivals on Oct. 15 now stands as the difference-maker considering the Broncos' 4-3 record.
The Broncos have a 2-0 record in the division.
While the Kansas City Chiefs continue to hold down the basement of the AFC West at 1-6 on the year, the Oakland Raiders are all of a sudden in position to chase Denver. Dennis Allen's squad, who got bludgeoned by the Broncos last month, is on a two-game winning streak after victories against the Jacksonville Jaguars last week and the Chiefs this week.
Oakland is 3-4 on the year, but sits in third place because of its 1-2 division record.
