The Boise St. Broncos continue to dominate their contest against the Southern Miss Golden Eagles as they head into halftime leading 23-0 at M.M. Roberts Stadium in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
Less than a minute into the second quarter, D.J. Harper rushed for an 11-yard touchdown to make it 14-0. Michael Frisina would add a 21-yard field goal with 9:51 remaining before the Broncos closed the half with a late 33-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Joe Southwick to Chris Potter to make it 23-0.
This game is a statistical anomaly so far as the offensive numbers say that Southern Miss should be winning. The Broncos have been outgained overall (264 to 203), especially on the ground (120 to 61). But Southern Miss has four penalties for 52 yards and four turnovers, including two interceptions thrown by quarterback Ricky Lloyd and two lost fumbles.
Southern Miss running back Desmond Johnson has 108 yards on 13 carries for an 8.3 average in the first half. Boise State quarterback Joe Southwick has 142 yards passing with one touchdown and an interception.
