College Football Rankings: BCS Simulation Has Boise State At No. 23

Stay connected for news and updates

Despite a narrow one-point victory over BYU last Thursday, Chris Pedersen's Boise State Broncos still check in at No. 23 in the country in SB Nation's latest batch of projected BCS standings.

Rather uncharacteristically, the Broncos failed to score an offensive touchdown in the win over the Cougars, and could only muster 261 yards of total offense. Led almost entirely by the five turnovers forced by his defense, Pederson's squad moved up three spots after being slotted at No. 26 last week.

The Broncos will hit the road to take on New Mexico this weekend to open up their 2012 Mountain West slate. Pederson's team should be desperate to attack a Lobos defense that allowed 94 points to Texas and Texas Tech earlier in the season.
