Boise State Football Spring Practice: Broncos Move On To Life Without Kellen Moore

New faces will dot the blue turf on Saturday as the 2012 Boise State Broncos take the field for their Spring Game.

When the Boise State Broncos take the blue turf on Saturday, they will, obviously, look very different. Gone is Kellen Moore, a two-time Heisman Trophy finalist and maybe the most decorated player in the school's history. Gone, too, is running back Doug Martin, who is expected by some to go in the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft. The Broncos will also have to replace leading wide receiver Tyler Shoemaker— who hauled in 62 passes for 994 yards and 16 touchdowns— and top defensive lineman Billy Winn, who may be a first round pick, as well.

Their replacements will be looking to make good impressions in this year's Spring Game. At quarterback will redshirt junior Joe Southwick, who Broncos fans hope will be the next star quarterback to drop off of Chris Petersen's conveyor belt of signal callers. Martin is being supplanted by D.J. Harper, who unlike Southwick, is no mystery. Harper ran for 557 yards and nine touchdowns last season, and may, at least initially, be the focal point of an offense that is also replacing offensive coordinator Brent Pease, who skipped town to run the Florida Gators offense.

Game time/date: Saturday, April 14, 2012, 4:50 p.m. MT

Location: Bronco Stadium, Boise, Idaho
