National Signing Day 2012 is now over, and the Boise State Broncos have 23 new players who have committed to the football program starting next season. Their class may like flare and sparkle, as they recruited no four or five-star prospects according to scout.com, but that has never been the blueprint for success anyways. Two players that made their decision to sign on with the Broncos on the final day were TE Hayden Plinke and MLB Tyler Gray, but there were no big surprises before the deadline. Boise St. put together the No. 56 draft class in the nation, according to scout.com, which is the highest-ranking class in the program's history, but still not that impressive. Perhaps SB Nation's Boise State Athletics blog, One Bronco Nation Under God, put the whole situation into the proper perspective:
The lesson here: make of rankings what you will. If you think they are the gold standard for college football success, then congratulations to Boise State for setting a school record and beating all other teams in its conference. If you think recruiting rankings are for the birds, then so what if there are 55 teams ahead of BSU. You'd prefer the rankings for actual football.
