The Falcons' defense was exposed by Fresno State QB Derek Carr, whose team jumped out to a 21-0 lead in the first quarter and a 24-point halftime lead behind his 279-yard, three-TD effort.
The Air Force Falcons trail the Fresno State Bulldogs, 31-7, at halftime of their Mountain West Conference meeting in Fresno, Calif.
The Falcons' defense was victimized by the Bulldogs early and often, finding themselves in a 21-0 hole after the opening quarter. Air Force got on the board two minutes into the second quarter when Connor Dietz found Ty MacArthur for a 10-yard touchdown pass to cap off a six-play, 62-yard drive. Fresno State added a field goal two minutes later before getting another touchdown with under four minutes left to play in the half.
Fresno State quarterback Derek Carr has torched Air Force's defense for 279 yards and three touchdowns on 18-of-20 passing. The Bulldogs out-gained the Falcons, 326 total yards to 154, in the opening half.
Dietz is 2-for-4 for 32 yards, with both completions going to MacArrhur. Running back Cody Getz gained 45 yards on 12 carries in the first half.
