Air Force LB Josh Kusan lost for remainder of season

Chris Humphreys-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

The Falcons senior LB's career may be over, as a knee injury he suffered against Navy will keep him out of action for the rest of 2012.

Air Force announced the loss of one of their more experienced defensive contributors on Wednesday, as senior LB Josh Kusan will miss the rest of the 2012 season due to a knee injury he suffered in their 28-21 OT loss to Navy on Saturday.

Kusan, a 6'0, 220-lb. from Ohio, was having the best season of his college career in 2012, with 16 tackles, including 2 for loss, and 1 INT through the Falcons first five games.

The timing of the injury occurs in the grey area between whether the NCAA would agree to a medical redshirt, but Air Force's status as a military academy may make Kusan's decision different than the average senior injured in his final season in school.

Kusan's absence will test a defense giving up 27.8 points a game in 2012, 77th-best in the country.

It may not be as big a deal in their next game, a road date at Wyoming, as the Cowboys rank 102nd in the nation in rush yards with 122.6 yards a contest.
