Nevada leads the pack at the top of the Mountain West Conference very early in the season.

Conference play in the Mountain West Conference opened with a trickle on Saturday.

Nevada's away win at Hawaii gave it the early lead in the conference. Nevada also boasts the best overall record in the conference, a perfect 2-0 away from home and 3-1 overall. UNLV took down Air Force in its first MWC game. It also happened to be UNLV's first win of the season.

Hawaii and Air Force are tied for the bottom spot after losing their first conference games to the two teams up at the top. The standings will assuredly start to shake up very soon when the other six schools in the conference start to play, but Nevada can claim to be top dog in just about every way as it stands.
