Air Force will allow fans to participate in overnight tailgating prior to the Falcons' Oct 6. matchup against Navy.
The Air Force Academy athletics department will provide fans with the unique opportunity to take part in overnight tailgating festivities prior to the Falcons' Oct. 6 game against Navy, according to the Academy's official website.
The Falcons and Midshipmen will kickoff at 9:30 a.m. MT. Under normal circumstances, that wouldn't allow for many pregame celebrating. However, the Academy is allowing fans to setup their tailgate spots by 7 p.m. on the eve of the game. In order to keep things safe and secure, Air Force is also providing all-night security, as well as leaving the stadium lights on throughout the night.
Contests between the two service academies have historically been close, as only one of the past nine meetings has been decided by more than a score. After Navy won seven straight meetings from 2003 through 2009, the Falcons have taken the last two, and won the Commander-in-Chief's trophy for both seasons as a result. The winner of the Air Force-Navy game has claimed the trophy every year since 1997.
