Air Force fell on Saturday night, 38-35, to the UNLV Rebels in Las Vegas, Nevada to go to 1-2 on the season.
The Falcons rushed to a 28-17 lead at the half, thanks to a last-minute touchdown by Connor Dietz. The Falcons had controlled most of the game to that point, rushing for well over 200 yards by the half yet showing cracks defensively.
UNLV would score on three consecutive drives in the second half, 21 unanswered points that gave the Rebels a 38-28 lead midway through the fourth quarter. Dietz would rush for yet another score with just under five minutes remaining, yet the Falcons would be unable to stop the Rebels from running out most of the clock as time expired in the game.
Air Force would get the ball back with 1:03 remaining, but failed to get the ball past midfield.
Cody Getz would lead the Air Force rushing attack with 113 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries, while Connor Dietz added 68 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carriers. Air Force would total 352 yards rushing in the game.

Air Force leads UNLV by the score of 28-17 at the half, in Las Vegas on Saturday night.
Air Force once again proved powerful on the ground, putting up 238 yards rushing in the first half and taking a 21-10 lead midway through the second quarter thanks to a Broam Hart 2-yard touchdown run.
The Falcons would struggle to contain the Rebels air attack, however, as UNLV quarterback Nick Sherry was 14-of-21 for 184 yards and an interception. Sherry was able to move the Rebels down the field on two long drives in the second quarter, despite Air Force nearly doubling UNLV in time of possession through the first half.
Air Force would instantly respond, however, using two plays to go the length of the field in the final 30 seconds to take a 28-17 lead at the break.
Air Force quarterback Connor Dietz is 2-of-4 for 64 yards, with Cody Getz leading the rush attack with 71 yards on eight carries and a touchdown.

Air Force leads UNLV 14-7 after one quarter of play on Saturday night.
The Falcons had dominated much of the start of the game, scoring on the first possession and not allowing much space defensively through the first part of the half. The Falcons would fail on a fourth down attempt and the Rebels would score just four plays later, taking advantage of a 60-yard pass from Nick Sherry to Marcus Sullivan.
Air Force would instantly respond, covering 75 yards in just seven plays and capping off the drive with a Cody Getz 12-yard touchdown run to give the Falcons a 14-7 lead.
Through one quarter, Air Force has 180 yards rushing and 186 yards of total offense. Getz leads the Falcons with 61 yards rushing on five carries. UNLV, meanwhile, has 85 yards of offense so far in the game.

After beating up on Idaho State in their opener, the Air Force Falcons came up just short in their attempt to beat the No. 18 Michigan Wolverines, falling 31-25.
Despite the loss, though, the Falcons are double digit favorites when they travel to Las Vegas to play the UNLV Rebels on Saturday. Winless in each of their first three games, the Rebels will host their fourth straight game of the season and look for their first win after one score losses to each Minnesota, Northern Arizona and Washington State.
Against UNLV, expect the Falcons' offense to again rely on their strong rushing attack featuring Cody Getz and dual-threat quarterback Connor Dietz. The combination tallied 196 yards rushing against the Wolverines, including three Getz touchdowns, while Dietz passed for an additional 127 yards.
