2012 Mountain West Standings: Air Force Occupies Bottom Of League With Boise State

The Air Force Falcons are now on a three-game losing streak and stand at 3-10 in the 2012 Mountain West standings. The New Mexico Lobos picked up a 30-point victory, 86-56, over the Falcons on Wednesday night.

The Falcons close out the regular season on Saturday with a game against the Colorado St. Rams, a team that upset the UNLV Rebels on Wednesday. A victory could move the Falcons into outright possession of seventh place in the league, but the team lost its road game against the Rams earlier in the season. More than likely, the Falcons will be 3-11 in conference since Boise State would need to upset the New Mexico Lobos.

The Falcons are looking at an opening round match against New Mexico, UNLV or San Diego State, depending on the outcomes of Saturday's games.

Here is the Saturday schedule for the Mountain West:

Boise State vs. New Mexico, 2:00 p.m. MT
Colorado State vs. Air Force, 2:00 p.m.
San Diego State vs. TCU, 5:00 p.m.
Wyoming vs. UNLV, 8:00 p.m.

New Mexico Vs. Air Force Final Score: New Mexico Wins By 30

New Mexico's Hugh Greenwood scored 14 straight points to open the second half en route to a career-high 22-point outburst as the Lobos knocked off Air Force 86-56. The win propels New Mexico to 23-6 and 9-4 in the Mountain West, while Air Force drops to 13-14 overall and 3-10 in conference.

The Falcons had no answer for Greenwood and teammate Drew Gordon. Gordon shot 8-of-9 from the field and finished with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Senior guard Phillip McDonald came off the bench to add 13 points for the Lobos.

Center Taylor Broekhuis scored 11 and was the only Air Force player to reach double-figures. The Falcons struggled shooting the ball night, finishing just 19-of-52 (36.5 percent) from the field. Air Force also got pounded on the boards. New Mexico out-rebounded the Falcons 43-28.
