Air Force defensive coordinator Matt Wallerstedt has accepted a job with Texas A&M and secondary coach Charlton Warren will be promoted to replace him, as the school announced on Wednesday. Wallerstedt will now be the linebacker's coach for the Aggies.
Warren takes over a defense that ranked 72nd in points allowed nationally and 65th in yards allowed nationally, so there's a good deal of room for improvement. He's been on the Falcons' staff for seven years and had previously held the title of co-defensive coordinator even though Wallerstedt called the plays. Wallerstedt ran the defense for two years.
In addition to the changes at defensive coordinator, Brad White now takes over as inside linebacker's coach, a role previously filled by Wallerstedt, and as recruiting coordinator, a role previously filled by Warren.
