Military Bowl 2011 Final Score: Toledo Wins 42-41 After Air Force Misses Two-Point Conversion

The Toledo Rockets won 42-41 in the 2011 Military Bowl after the Air Force Falcons attempted a two-point conversion in the game's final minute but failed. Air Force scored a touchdown with less than a minute left in the game to give the team a chance to tie things up with an extra point, but the Falcons opted to fake the field goal attempt and go for the win. On the play, Air Force's David Baska fumbled the ball on an apparent option and it went through the end zone.

Air Force never actually led in the game, constantly being forced to match Toledo touchdowns, but they decided to go for their first lead of the game in the final minute rather than a tie. A 33-yard touchdown pass from Tim Jefferson to Zack Kauth set up the opportunity. After that, Toledo managed to get a first down and burn the clock.

The offenses slowed down in the second half following the high-scoring first half, but they both still finished with solid numbers. Air Force had more yardage than Toledo (408 to 350) and an equal number of turnovers, but the Rockets were able to take advantage of touchdowns on both defense and special teams.

Tim Jefferson finished the game competing 13 of 22 passes for 160 yards, 2 touchdowns and an interception, while also running for 65 yards and a score. Air Force ran for 248 yards overall on the day, another quality performance from that unit.
