2011 Military Bowl Halftime Score: Toledo, Air Force Tied At 28 In High-Scoring Battle

We were expecting a whole bunch of points to be scored in a bowl game between high-octane offenses, and that's precisely what we've gotten in the 2011 Military Bowl as Toledo and Air Force are tied 28-28 going into halftime on Wednesday evening. Toledo got up 21-7 early in the game but Air Force has responded with its own run of scores to knot things up going into the half. It's actually the highest-scoring first half of any bowl game since 2004.

Toledo and Air Force are two of the top scoring offenses in the nation this season, with the Rockets ranking No. 9 in the nation in scoring offense while the Falcons come in at No. 21. They've really shown that in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday, as each team has thrown up four touchdowns apiece in the first half. Each team put up over 200 yards of offense in the first half, and Toledo even got a 87-yard kickoff return for a touchdown by Briceton Cannada in the first quarter.

Quarterback Terrence Owens has had a very good game for the Rockets so far, competing 12 of 17 passes for 137 yards and two touchdowns. They've also been effective on the ground, as Adonis Thomas has 79 yards rushing on just eight carries. Air Force has once again used its rushing offense to move the ball, as the Falcons ran it 31 times for 173 yards in the first half. Quarterback Tim Jefferson has been huge for them, accounting for 130 yards and two touchdowns combined through the ground and air.

Considering how high-scoring the first half was, one can presumably expect more of the same in the second half. If you're a football fan that likes points, this is the kind of game that's truly a treat.
