Report: Air Force Heading To Shreveport, La. For 2010 Independence Bowl

Stay connected for news and updates

The Denver Post's Irv Moss reports that the Air Force Falcons have accepted an invitation to be the Mountain West Conference's representative in the 2010 Independence Bow on Dec. 27 in Shreveport, La. There were a few procedural matters that the Independence Bowl and the Mountain West had to work out, but Air Force accepted the invitation Wednesday night.. They will play an ACC team, most likely the Clemson Tigers (who may not start future Colorado Rockies outfield prospect Kyle Parker at quarterback).

The Falcons could also have gone to the Las Vegas Bowl, but the Utah Utes received and accepted the invitation to that bowl game earlier today. Since TCU would make a BCS bowl game and Utah would not the Las Vegas Bowl opted to take the Utes.

Earlier in the day, the San Diego State Aztecs learned they will play the Navy Midshipmen in the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl on Dec. 23 (that's a long bowl game name) in Qualcomm Stadium.
